Fitting a 2nd hand upvc door and underfilling.

Hi. I have (very generously) been given a 2nd hand upvc door and frame, which I am hoping to fit, but sizes are different different. I have keys. The questions: What can I use to pack the sides of a uPVC door if the width of the opening is wider than the frame? (can I just use tannelised...

Zanussi WJD1257W E11 error on dry cycle

I have googled, and it seems the issue is likely one of the solenoids. Is there a way I can confirm this before investing in the part? Also, if it is one of the solenoids, can someone let me know how to identify the part needing replacing once I open up the machine? (I gather there are...

Ace high How to repressurise expansion tank?

I have a Halstead Ace High Boiler, and think the expansion tank needs repressurising as there is a small but consistent leak from the air vent while the heating is in operation. While in theory, I know how to repressurise it, and the relevant pressures, I canot see how to gain access without...

    Incorrectly powered alarm? Scanteonic 9448+

Thanks Sparky. I'll double check what's been used now then. Thanks everyone

    Incorrectly powered alarm? Scanteonic 9448+

Sparky, the existing wiring to the unit does not come from any other circuit, but runs straight to a B6 breaker in the CU. In this case, would it be 2.5mm to the spur and something smaller from the spur to the control panel? (As I mentioned in my last post, it's not the electricity that...

    Incorrectly powered alarm? Scanteonic 9448+

Thanks for the responses. Just to clarify, I am unqualified, but do understand a lot of waht is involved. I have also had some bad experiences with some local firms of electricians. The control panel was swapped from an old key operated one to the 9448+ yet the alarm firm did not notice the...

    Incorrectly powered alarm? Scanteonic 9448+

Hi All. I have a 9448+ alarm which was professionally installed a few years ago. Ideally, I would now like to move the panel. There are 2 questions I need to ask. 1. Should the alarm be on a fused spur? (it isn't) 2. What should be the spec for the mains wire? Thanks

    Waterproofing single skin walls

Appologies for the naff diagram. My outhouse lets in water, surprisingly. It is concrete floor, concrete slab roof (with no overhang) and single brick walls. I can see no evidence of a DPC for the outhouse. How can I waterproof the walls? And what can I do about the floor? Most of the...

Zanussi WJD1257W NTC probe gone 3 times in 1 year?!

Thanks for the suggestion Captain. It's definitely a damp environment, so damp that despite the outside of the walls having been sealed several times over, there is still enough moisture coming through to wash the paint off the walls! My thinking was that it might be condensation getting...

Zanussi WJD1257W NTC probe gone 3 times in 1 year?!

OK, on the dryer side, it's definitely the ntc. Replacement part arrived today, showed resistance accross the contacts, so I fitted and dryer now works again. (the removed part shows 0 Ohms resistance) This brings me back to my original problem, does anybody have any ideas as to why my...

Zanussi WJD1257W NTC probe gone 3 times in 1 year?!

Thanks Zipper, I'l have another go when I pull the machine apart to try to sort this fault. If I remember, the base can be removed, though I still couldn't work out how to get access to the pump. Maybe it will be one of those where I couldn't see the wood for the trees and it's obvious when I...

Zanussi WJD1257W NTC probe gone 3 times in 1 year?!

Hi Zipper, I haven't yet on this occasion, but did confirm on the previous 2 occasions - 0 Ohms at room temperature I assume isn't good!? Also, swapping out the NTC resolved the issues on the previous occasions too. Tis time, I've taken a chance on ordering a replacement before removing...

Zanussi WJD1257W NTC probe gone 3 times in 1 year?!

Thanks for the response Zipper. Model no is 914601406/00 and drier NTC. I'm assuming it has again failed as it is exactly the same symptoms as previously - drier does not seem to get hot, and the drying time is much shorter than it should be.

Zanussi WJD1257W NTC probe gone 3 times in 1 year?!

Hi, I have a Zanussi WJD1257W. The NTC probe went in June 2011, then again in Dec 2011, and looks to have gone again. Is there any reason why this component would break so frequently? The machine is in a very damp environment, but has been for the last 7 years or so, so perhaps...

Zanussi WJD1257W no heat on dry cycle

Thanks Captain. It was the other end I meant though to be certain the wiring to the NTC is OK as per your suggestion, though the replacement part I recieved did not look new, and looked marginally different. Again it also has no resistance at room temperature, so I think it is again a duff...

Zanussi WJD1257W no heat on dry cycle

At least the leaks not a problem. The wiring certainly seems ok, unless there is a break hidden by the insulation somewhere. The part wasn't direct, but orig replacement seemed ok. This was just in a box though, not a sealed bag, and connection end is white not black. Not sure it is new...

Zanussi WJD1257W no heat on dry cycle

Fitted new ntc, and dryer still not heating, also timer on dryer runs down far too quickly - 1:51 time takes maybe 15 minutes. Condenser cleaned out. Last error in log is E72. Not sure what this means, but code for a different model shows E72 as being a faulty NTC on drying condenser. Is...

Zanussi WJD1257W no heat on dry cycle

Thanks again Captain. Replacement ntc should be here today, so I'll see if it resolves the dryer problem. Is there anything that tends to blow the ntc? It was replaced only 6 months ago.

Zanussi WJD1257W no heat on dry cycle

Thanks Captain. The fan definitely turns freely, so that bit's OK. The machine is in a cold and fairly damp environment, so condensation is a definite possibility. I'll take the back off soon to check the condenser (am I right in thinking their is a filter somewhere round there, if so can...
