    Terrible plaster finish

Thanks everyone for all the replies- we are paying him his materials but not labour. We have someone lined up to complete the work, he comes recommended by several people and we've seen his work so fingers crossed it will be right this time!

    Terrible plaster finish

I'm in kent, and he was a recommendation from a chippy. I told him today not to finish the job and he was peed off. He told me that he did a poor job because he worked from the bottom up! (It's a hallway) He also told me that not many of the rough bits were in my eyeline so they wouldn't be in...

    Terrible plaster finish

Thank you for all the replies. He has offered to get a lad in to do some sanding but I don't think that's going to do much good. And yes, the work area is a tip, he didn't cover the doors, and he had to hire a ladder. Very glad I haven't paid him yet

    Terrible plaster finish

I've added an album to my profile! Hopefully the images will show up on this reply- I haven't paid him yet, but not sure what the etiquette is when refusing to pay up! He does know I'm not happy

    Terrible plaster finish

Just having some plastering done and not too confident in the guys ability to provide a decent finish. The large areas are fine, but there are a lot of rough edges and corners. He's told me that after he's gone I can use filler on the rough bits and then sand it down, and sand down where he's...

    Bath fitted with no feet?

We are in the process of suing them anyway, just one more thing to add to the list! Thanks for the reply

    Bath fitted with no feet?

I've just had to take the side off my newly installed bath and have noticed that the plumbers have not fitted the feet to it. It's supported by a timber frame around the rim, but there is nothing at all supporting the base. Is that right?

    Do I need tile trims?

Thanks for the advice- where might I find the better sort of trim, just for reference? I'm not doing the tiling myself, I'm paying someone else to to it!

    Do I need tile trims?

I have just ordered my new bathroom tiles, very pale sandy coloured ceramic, with dark grey to go in the shower. What I haven't ordered is any tile trims. We have them in our current bathroom, plastic ones, and they are ok, never really had an opinion on them before, but now I come to...

    Ideal standard stuff any good?

Please help, having decided on a bathroom range my husbands dad, ( who is a plumber) has said that ideal standard is not even up to mid range standard, but hasn't given us a brand he recommends instead. I've spent the last two weeks tearing my hair out trying to choose stuff, and now I'm...

    Bath suitable for boxing in?

I would like to have a boxed in bath, but don't like the look of the whole of the top being white, with just the tiling down the side. What I want is a rolled edge, and tiling under that and down the sides. I used to have an original rolled top steel bath in my old house that had been boxed in...

What heating system for extension? Advice please

Thanks very much, it is a proper extension, one more question though- what does 100w m2 actually mean, heat wise, compared to a radiator? I'm generally cold so will this get warm enough for me to be in a tshirt? Or will I be in extra jumper territory?

What heating system for extension? Advice please

We are planning to build an extension on our side return, and then install bifold doors of approx 3 metres at the back of the house into the garden. The room with the bifold doors would be the playroom , with a utility room leading off and a large toy cupboard. I've been reading through old...

How small is too small for bedrooms?

Thanks everyone! Think we will go for it as we are planning to convert the rest of the loft by the time they are teenagers and can shove them and all their stuff out of sight up there.

How small is too small for bedrooms?

I just bought a very nice family home which we are about to do some work on before we move in, however too much white wine on valentines day and we find we will be needing an extra bedroom come November.. I was thinking of dividing the back bedroom up, taking just over a metre off the width...
