Hi ..just want to ask in practice what you guys normally do...i have a garden to light up with led mini floodlights ( halogen looking type- non pir)..on a activated switch...do you guys normally swa in and out of the lights ( worried about space and cutting hole into the light damaging ip rating...

the tester is a calibrated fluke 1652...has never had a problem b4...and when loads where disconnected at con unit it proved rcd working fine...it was only when you added a load...i do take on board your views on items plugged in but you have to understand and realise in this domestic property...

the IR was fine and as was r1 +R2...i will admit as it was a property where to get to every socket would have been difficult i did test it with items plugged in still...its just i have never had it before ...so as i left items in what would i or could i pick up to make it erratic ...its annoying...

had to test an existing rcd (wylex) during a modification...3 circuits protected only...sockets 1 sockets 2 & garage...original tests produced 59.9 on x1 and off scale on x5.....so i thought it was up the shoot and changed it...results then 36.6 on x1 and 39.9 on x5 ..but on one of the x5 tests...

when are clip in blanks not used as intended? i remember once when i installed a few as double sockets but no one could get a 13 amp plug top into them

well in all my time i have never had an inspector even mention not to use push in blanks....sometimes i think we think too deep i mean if a child poured his bottle over a consumer unit he may get hurt but we do not have to make them water proof....where does it say on a domestic installation pop...

so when you find a domestic board with clip in blanks you code it and deem it unsatisfactory ...a brand new crabtree with blanks supplied..you fail it because they are clip in style which i have only seen with the unit.....hooorahhhhh i can fail every house i walk into.....i must buy more blanks

WHERE on a domestic property does that apply...how many domestic propertys have consumer units with locked lids.....

i would be ashamed of myself and can not think of one instance when in 35 years i have had no blanks.....what if i had no pen ...i would not be able to fill the form in and the client would have to guess

as i said before...i would sort it and in a domestic con unit most blanks fit most boards no problems.....it would take me longer to write it down than correct...it seems people on here would not and thats up too them ...maybe they need the job of going back to fit 3 blanks.

well i personally draw the line at doing my best for myself and the client and never look at these as a way to bigger pay days....the day i have to write 3 missing blanks i will pack away my test kit and move on to cutting the grass.....i do know so many do these as loss leaders...maybe thats...

sadly as sometimes happens on here i said i would not bother putting up a code for a few blanks..thats all..and its made to be something else of which i never mentioned....on the report it is as always as each spark sees it...i agree with a lot of it but have not had time to see what was said or...

i admit no blanks c1 but hey i would just pop a couple in and not bother recording it...but wall lights access to live part ? well do you then not get that in most light fittings if we take the bulbs out...are you saying you really grade items like this c1..christ if so you must fail any pre...

i noticed when i stuck it into the apprentices ear beyond the end cap his mouth slightly openend...is that a duff bulb or good as i can not read his lips :mrgreen:
