    old plaster has come away

    wood under joists

    On the ground floor my joists are supported by mini walls. On top are small pieces of wood which sit on top of the stone but support the joists. Some are rotten and I would like to replace them, any ideas on how I could the old stuff out and the new ones in?

    Ply or Fibreboard?

    Would fibreboard have any benefits over using plywood for an underlay when using laminate flooring. It's going on ground floor so sound proofing isn't essential, I only need it to level the uneven floor boards and to insulate it as well. I would use 7mm fibreboard or 12mm ply, not the thin stuff.

    Improving soil before seeding

    Can someone recommend some pre seeding fertilizer? My soil is pretty good quality, is it really necessary to use fertilizer? Could i just fork some compost into the soil, then rake flat?

    Im looking to build a raised patio using oak sleepers along the front. I planned on laying a concrete foundation then laying the sleepers on top with a layer of pea gravel between to stop them laying in any water that might build up, and also help with drainage. Can anyone see any problems...
