£2bn home insulation scheme - how to get the cash?

Let's see the cost of insulation rise, either by supplier or by "aprroved government fitter" That is how these grants typically work, make the public think they're getting a good deal.

    Opinions on this 'build'.

Council can't be everywhere at every time, they rely on poeple reporting. If theres nothing online then I'd think it's not got planning and maybe the neighbors are ignorant. By what you're saying is say it's an illegal build and I'd hate to think of the potential damp issues in that 2inch gap...

Converting 3 bed to 4 bed - Advise please - See floorplan.

How is this different to the previous thread? The bathroom is barely wider than bedroom3 and only a metre longer, you say you can't lose the cupboard and move boiler (why not?) So your have pretty much useless space there as part of a potential bedroom. Why is an attic extension not viable? I...

Converting 3 bed to 4 bed (duplicates merged)

https://ibb.co/Mf8Dqt6 Excuse the fat finger fone sketching. Is this an option? Not sure on scales/dimensions would need to draw it out properly.

Scotland - WC under Work Not Requiring Building Warrant

Not an expert, yet. Have you spoken to the local council or building control officer? If not do not is my advice. I'm also not 100% what your asking. Scottish building standards/regs stipulate minimum requirements regarding "activity zones" and your two designers would be making sure this is...

    Airey house loft conversion... certificate

As far as I can gather is. Structural engineer has told you it will be X amount to make the house safe for conversion. This is too much for you so you're asking if it structuraly needs to be made safe. How much do you value your children's life? Also not getting building regs/structural sign...

    UFH off existing boiler

Looking at our extension plans and we're looking at keeping our boiler, just moving it. I previously thought you can't run UFH and radiators off a single zone CH system due to flow rates and how UFH works. Some more reading appears to be telling me otherwise using diverter valves. Can anybody...

Scotland - Building Warrant - do you NEED architect drawings??

Speak to an architectural technician, savings can typically be had there. I might have a break down of our architects cost to give you a rough guide, but need emails on a PC for that.

    Soundproofing, any experience?

Our house is a brick built 50s semi. Neighbours TV is a "constant" distracting loud muffle when it's on, we've spoken to him before but it would end up being a daily occurance. It's loud but not clear. We know hisTV is hung on the party wall so it's projecting directly back into us to the point...

    Conduit for in plaster

For those wondering. Cabled up the extractor yesterday, works fine. Put in conduit too, the last 3cm is unprotected as there was a wooden "lintel" in place against the ceiling, but enough room to still put the cables into the attic and hidden once plastered over. If that makes sense? Also...

    Conduit for in plaster

Sorry lack of typing put my whole answer. Isolator switch above the door. Because it's not a recognised zone already although following a vertical route?

    Conduit for in plaster

Looks like I will be fine. Installing an isolator switch above the bathroom. Which may not be a reconised zone but seen it loads up here, shame I only need about 30-50cm of conduit for it. Conduit for my own peace of my mind.

    Conduit for in plaster

I honestly thought there would be some regulation in place. So if I really wanted to I could plaster over the cables them self? It's brick wall if that makes any difference?

    Conduit for in plaster

What's the standard/regulation for conduit in plaster? Basically what I'm asking is what I should be buying? I know it's metal but does it matter about shape, size fully enclosed...

    Bathroom extractor, wiring help

Didn't expect it to be that old! My parents house wiring was that old it was nylon (or silk?) wrapped at the inner cores like thick metal coat hangers! Fuse box is a modern MCB+RCB system, all boxed in but I will take a picture tomorrow if I remember. The t+e is almost like it's been what's...

Making sense of water pipes- nasty hammer

Yeah, that is part of the plan if trying to solve lose pipes don't work. Where's the best place for it? I thought after the mains inlet was the best place but since we have a t-piece only being used as a corner can it go there? Realised I never uploaded a picture of up in the attic.
