Bungalow refurb: Works in what order please?

My son has a kitchen company and now has a good team of tradesmen working for him who he can recommend so they will do the work. I just need to get things clear in my head and forward plan so I don't sound too much of an idiot when they come and view the jobs to quote [at matesrates]! I have...

Bungalow refurb: Works in what order please?

Hi, - I'm buying a 1950's build semi detached bungalow which is solid and in good condition but needs updating and decorating - needs new kitchen and new bathroom, but they can wait a while as I get other stuff done as they are habitable and clean. It needs a rewire, and the ceilings need...

Moving the kitchen to other side of bungalow:how easy?

Thanks for your replies. It sounds possible then. But just thought - the condensing combi boiler is in the garage and the 'drip' , now on the outside wall, would then be enclosed and on an inside wall - dont think that would be ok would it? Maybe I could resite the boiler on the other wall...

Moving the kitchen to other side of bungalow:how easy?

Is it possible to resite my kitchen to an extension that would be built on the other side of a bungalow? Would the water main govern how feasible it would be? Drainage wouldnt be a problem as the new kitchen would butt onto the back of the garage which has got the washing machine plumbed in -...

60's built bungalow - state of electrics?

I'm thinking of buying a bungalow built in the 1960's [possibly in 1960] - just one bedroom, bathroom, lounge/diner, kitchen. What can I expect to have to do? The sockets and switches look dated and there aren't many of them! Would it be a rewire job? [to be safe] new consumer unit? - and...

Buying these from a diy 'shed' so no expert advice available! Do I seal these tiles before fixing to the walls? Any specific adhesive required? [they are 10mm thick and 20mmx20mm so not too heavy]. Then do I seal for a second time after grouting and will one more coat of sealer be...

Wetrooms - are they still in fashion and how easy to do?

I would love a wetroom as my bathroom is only small and the floor has to come up anyway and be replaced. Are they still the way to go as I havent heard or seen much about them lately? How difficult is it to waterproof the floor and how effective are the 'aquapanels' - basically - how is it done?

Preparing for slate floor [on wooden floor]

I would like a slate floor in my kitchen which is currently chipboarded [22mm]. Some has to be removed due to water damage so I thinking of replacing the whole floor to a more stable flooring - thinking of WBPly. Then have been advised a good base for tiles is the 'hardback' sheets available...

Size of gas feed pipe for a regular condensing boiler?

I've been told that if I change my boiler to a combi boiler the gas feed pipe needs to be changed to a larger diameter one. But if I change to a regular condensing boiler would this still need to be changed? [It runs under the floorboards of the bathroom, hall and kitchen so changing it would...
