    Boiler banging

Yes the banging (popping noises) are coming from the boiler exchanger (I guess) and only when te boiler is fired up. The pump is old as the boiler about 7/8 years (Halstead boiler) and this has been a right pain (noisy, vibrating fan; PCB failed) etc etc. I would replace it if I could do it...

Hi Breesy The pump seems OK, I haven't noticed any noises or anything abnormal. What did you have in mind?

    Boiler banging

Hi My boiler was making some banging noises which I researched and thought that it was heat exchanger limescale causing hotspots. I used Fernox descaler over a week and then added inhibitor. This worked a treat and stopped all the noise, I was well chuffed :D A month or so later and all the...

    Water collecting behind Bath taps

Hi I installed a bathroom some 12 months ago. Before I did, i noticed that the ledge of the bath behind the taps "dipped" in the corner. I assumed this was normal and that I would be able to raise the corner during installation. I couldn't lift the corner without pushing the entire bath out of...

    Hotpoint WMA10P

I would look at the existing paddle, but I don't have it. As I said in the oriignal post my wife threw it away, thinking it was a piece of unwanted packaging. That is why I wanted to take one of the others off, so I could take a look and see if there was anything wrong with the drum.

    Hotpoint WMA10P

I agree, that's why I wanted to remove one of the remaining paddles. I could then see if anything on the drum is broken (I believe there is a metal retaining lug). Have you any idea how I unclip the remaining paddles?

    Hotpoint WMA10P

Hi & happy new year Can anyone advise me on how to remove and install the blue plastic Drum Paddle from a Hotpoint washing machine WMA10P? One fell off and the wife threw it away because she thought it was some packaging! Looking at the remaining paddles it appears to be a Version 2 (all the...

    gas hob pressure

Corgi man has just been. I installed it all ok. The problem was restiction in the pipe. It was actually flux in the original isolating valve, £45 for piece of mind and a working hob was money well spent, although he said my instalation was done OK. If I'd replaced the valve myself I would have...

    gas hob pressure

I agree but i'm still interested in the cause of this. I am just going to turn boiler on as you suggest, but does the pipe size seem too long .. i.e. 14mtrs 22mm then reduced to 15mm for another 14mtrs?

    gas hob pressure

How do i test working pressure at the meter? I have a manometer (up to 30mbar) but when i did the standing test at the meter to test for leaks the gas blew the water out of the manometer (I opened valve too quickly- and resolved this by following instructions and opening it slowly) If I...

    gas hob pressure

I have just installed a replacement hob which will be checked by a corgi man. But I have a problem. I have 20mb at burner jet but this drops drmatically when I turn another burner on. With the gas lit you can see the flames reduce in size when more than 1 burner is on at a time. This...

    dishwasher leaking

Does any1 know why my dishwasher leaks? When it fills up, the water level in the plastic side panel (regeneration unit?) reaches a hole and flows onto my floor. The fill up cycle seems to happen in 3 stages and its only the 3rd cycle that leaks. I can't see how to adjust the microswitch, which...

    Ceiling height regulations

Hi, I want to replace my fink roof trusses (7.5 mtr span) with traditional joists and supporting RSJ's. I also want to put the new joists at a lower height, to get more headroom in my new loft storage area. Does anyone know if I am allowed to lower my first floor ceiling height by 9"? At...
