    One of the first things they teach you on the plumbing course (NVQ level 2 Heating and vent) is that plumbing and heating is not considered to be a part of the building trade, it is widely accepted as an engineering trade. I'm not saying thats right, but it is what they teach you.

    BTW I opened the manual air vent on the flow just before it enters the cylinder and there was no air or water. the hot water is fine, flow and return both piping hot on entry and exit of the cylinder
