minimum distance for rear dormer from…

    – back and sides? I live in Brent (London) and was wandering will Brent Council have there own minimum distance guidelines? I'm thinking of a rear dormer which cannot be seen from the street and obviously I want to maximise the space. I've had a look on here and google and can't find...

Can you buy core plugs seperately for…

so it sounds like the heat exchanger needs to be replaced again. Apparently those items on the side (whatever they're called) were factory fitted and come with the exchanger. Would I be better off buying a new boiler? because as far as I can see this is just going to keep happening. If I do...

Can you buy core plugs seperately for…

Don't know? We used a company who spealise in flushing systems to do the work. By the way my plumber was talking it's as if they would have come with the heat exchanger when it was replaced. He seemed confident he could get them out but has never purchased them before.

Can you buy core plugs seperately for…

…Potterton FF 55 boiler? Just had my plumber around and he said rather than get a new Heat Exchanger if he can obtain them from his supplier or from Potterton directly it would save us a lot of money. Also, if they can't be obtained is it better for me to buy a new bolier? I've had nothing...

Gluing a mirror to bathroom tiles?

Just had a new bathroom fitted and wanted to glue a large mirror to the tiled wall. We had a mirror glued in my last flat and it seemed fine. Our new fitter said he'd prefer to screw it to the wall as it is safer. If we can glue it, what's the best type to use?

Just had a CU fitted and the report said…

OK – cheers. Where do I find a decent electrician then? I've used 2 now and as the above poster suggested they seem to both be unreliable. I paid 180 pounds for the new CU and fitting and this is really annoying me. I presume you are supposed to check these things before fitting and he just...

    silicone sealent around downlights

The holes were the right size. It was me who damaged some of the edging when I was painting around the edges. Out of 6 lights I need to try and "make good" 3 edges where the plaster/paint is chipped (by me). I was thinking of using silicone but as i said i'm worried about the heat – what's the...

how do I conceal the downlight edges?

Maybe the title isn't right but basically we had 6 holes cut in our ceiling for downlights. Things looked ok untill we had to play around with them due to a problem with the transformers. Now around the edges when the lights aren't turned on you can see dark edges where the rim doesn't sit flush...
