    Slow filling cistern

Looks like a SIAMP B&Q setup - there should be a diaphragm inside A - try replacing that first. If it's the same as mine (looks identical), try: http://www.gofixit.co.uk/acatalog/ballvalve_diaphragm_washer.html Buy the Siamp Diaphragm Washer - fixed it for me..

    laptop monitor failure

The display backlight isnt working - it's either the light itself or the inverter which powers it. Either way it wont be cheap to replace the parts if you can find them (unless you can find second hand cheap parts). Given the age I would have to agree that there is no point in pursuing it...

PROBLEM ADDING ADDITIONAL MEMORY TO LAPTOP

If you're lucky, both memory sticks can be fitted in the same place (underneath the rear cover). If there is only one slot for memory here (as you have), then the other one is usually found under the keyboard - at least on most of the laptops I have seen. Hopefully the keyboard is simple to...

Toilet filling up very very slowly

Looks like a cheap ass siamp B&Q toilet - had exactly the same problem whilst the family were over at christmas :( If you turn the water off you can unscrew the large nut next to where the fine jet of water is coming out from. Inside you should fine a rubber diaphragm with a plastic piece in...

Malware Causing Processor To Run At 100%

Would recommend running Process Explorer (http://live.sysinternals.com/procexp.exe) - from there you should see Services.exe in the task tree display, along with each svchost process running within that process indented (and coloured pink usually). Find the one that is using the most CPU up &...

ISP INTERNET LINE KEEPS DROPPING / CUTTING OUT & RECONN

OK - didnt notice that - in that case there is usually a utility that comes on cd with the modem that can tell you those stats?

ISP INTERNET LINE KEEPS DROPPING / CUTTING OUT & RECONN

hmmmm. just read that you sync at 2.2mbps - seems too high for a marginal signal. Nonetheless, if you could post your line figures off the modem, when connected to the net and if possible when you have lost the connection it would be helpful. Also, can you post a photo of your microfilters...

ISP INTERNET LINE KEEPS DROPPING / CUTTING OUT & RECONN

Noise on the line increases latter in the day/overnight, which can cause a loss of sync if the signal is marginal - can you access the router admin page(s) and find out the line sync/attenuation/signal to noise ratios? At a guess I would expect you have a connection which is barely supporting...

    Identifying a Sempron

cpu-z ( http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php ) will tell you the processor chip package, which should allow you to find a suitable replacement. Although, with pc133 ram its probably better replacing the motherboard etc as well, as already mentioned..

    slave hard drive not recognised

The easiest thing to do would be check that the cables to the hard drive are properly pushed in, then replace the cable if not. Failing that, the most likely explanation is the drive is failing I'm afraid. You could try moving the drive to another power & ide/sata cable if you have any spare in...

If it has power steering I would be checking the fluid reservoir - if its run empty it gets quite noisy! What sort of noise is it?

Hiding your identity on the web

Yes! Your ISP allocates you your IP address. Without one you wouldn't be able to receive any data back from them and the net, so you can't hide your IP from them!

    Ford Focus spluttering

From what I remember certain models of Focus can run on 3 cylinders after a loss of coolant - alternating the dead cylinder continually to act as an air pump and provide cooling for a 'limp home' mode as it were. Would expect the engine management light to be on if it were doing this however?
