Cold water higher pressure than the hot water?

Sounds like the whole house pump is the way to go no point fitting a pressure reducing valve then adding a pump for the shower might as well just pump the whole lot with a £300 pump.

Cold water higher pressure than the hot water?

they were just options and since when did a whole house system pump cost £5000, your clearly a plumber.

Cold water higher pressure than the hot water?

Obviously there were no replies before I started typing, but I still think these other options are valid and should do a better job, but a pressure reducing valve is certainly cheaper! especially if he wants the power shower anyway

Cold water higher pressure than the hot water?

Assuming it is gravity hot and mains cold (which sounds very likely, i.e. tank in loft), then really you would need a one hole tap with a dual flow spout (not mixed in tap) or a low pressure mixer tap with non return valves on hot and cold feed. Most taps, unless they specifically say so, are...

    unvented cylinder or shower pump?

Hi Powell30 The more I research the more it looks like you cannot get someone to sign off the work but I have just spoken to someone else in building control explained my doubts he conferred with his colleagues (including the Principal Building Control Surveyor) and agreed that I can do it...

    unvented cylinder or shower pump?

I understand the concept of an unvented system very well, as you will see from my first post (I put the bit in brackets just in case someone else misunderstood) "Is it OK to pump the entire hot and cold system (only gravity fed side obviously)" i.e. get the same from a pump (the whole...

    unvented cylinder or shower pump?

Thanks dangermouse46 are you 100% sure that the building control guy was wrong? I was quite looking forward to a new challenge............... Perfect example of how dangerous pressure vessels can be whilst writing this my wife has just tried to hard boil an egg in the microwave, what a nob...

    unvented cylinder or shower pump?

Thanks for the quick reply Lagunaglen It has been 4-4.5 Bar for the last couple of weeks and >50litres/minute so should be plenty, I just want to pump the gravity fed cold not mains pressure. I had to re fit/configure the current cylinder, and all of its controls mostly due to the terrible...

    unvented cylinder or shower pump?

I want more pressure for 2 showers and the kitchen sink. I was thinking of replacing the gravity fed cylinder with an unvented cylinder to get mains pressure but because of awkward discharge positioning and the £700 cost (fitting myself, including building control checks) I have been thinking it...

Do I need to replace the finish skim for tiling

Hi I have just removed my kitchen tiles and the 3/2mm skim coat came with most of them so I removed the rest (leaving some sort of brown plaster/screed behind). I am going to tile again but having never tiled or plastered before I can't decide whether it is worth putting a finish layer of...

No insert in MPDE pipe at stop tap

OK thanks Guys consider it done! Probably would have done it anyway but now I have a touch of fear to encourage me to do it sooner Fingers crossed it doesn't flood the solid oak floor before I get the chance to fix it.

No insert in MPDE pipe at stop tap

I live in Gloucester and used the time we spent without water (after the flood?) to replace a stuck stop tap and some shoddy pipework nearby as the stop tap chamber in the road was blocked and it seemed like a good opportunity. Must admit I was a bit nervous I would return from work and find the...

Very noisy (gargling, glogging and gurgling) hot water loop

Right I'm mostly with you now but could you just clear up the position (as far as flow) of the Pump: Order in Height: 1. Aerjec (highest) 2. Pump 3. 3 port valve (lowest) Order in flow from boiler: A 1. Aerjec (first) 2. Pump 3. 3 port valve (last) B 1. Pump (first) 2...

Very noisy (gargling, glogging and gurgling) hot water loop

I thought I had it how you meant, the vent take off is higher than the 3 port valve and a bleed point is added to the H/W feed. Is this how you meant? Do you mean the only difference to how you would have it is that I should have a Myson aerjec where the vent take off is (I do plan to do that...

Very noisy (gargling, glogging and gurgling) hot water loop

Hi Gas4you Thanks for the reply 'Firstly I cannot see an air vent on the H/W cylinder flow pipe.' Do you mean the pipe that feeds into the cylinder midway up, all there is is a bleed on the elbow to the right of the three port valve, do I need to put another in? If so where? The builders...

Very noisy (gargling, glogging and gurgling) hot water loop

Every morning I am woken by my hot water system (it's that or a cold shower) and I'm hoping someone might be kind enough to help. Basically the hot water loop makes this gargling glugging sort of noise pretty much for the duration (this appears to originate in the area shown in the picture...

    Radiator cleansing

I have bought a new kudox radiator for the hall and drained the system. I plan to use de sludger as the water was quite black and then inhibitor. However I have just read the instructions on the radiator and it says I must use an approved cleanser to flush the radiator once installed, problem is...

    Ply subfloor questions

Thanks for the advice Dazb, went to B and Q today to see if I could find any tarpaper or laminated resin paper and I'm still a bit confused they had lots building felt for roofing (one rapidseal underlayer was about 3mm thick with film one side and thick tar the other, but this seems too thick...

    Ply subfloor questions

Ok you might have noticed a couple of earlier posts but things have changed so I have a few more questions! I have just ripped up my entire chipboard subfloor as it had more waves than the sea (18mm drop over <1m, must have been like this when built as it's only an 18 year old house, big...
