Does Short Circuit Damage Car Battery ?

It would have just went directly across the fuse, due to the nature of the short circuit. It would be the same effect as if two leads attached to the battery terminal accidentally touched momentarily. Just wondering if that causes damage to a car battery.

Does Short Circuit Damage Car Battery ?

I didn't notice any heat but the short circuit went through a fuse and the fuse blew out.

Does Short Circuit Damage Car Battery ?

I was thinking in terms of just a momentary short that lasted no more than about 1 - 2 seconds.

    Green Colored Hook On Roof

There was a copper immersion heater at one time that sat directly under this hook in the kitchen on the floor below, so that sounds plausible. I think I will ask the roofer to remove it. It will probably result in a leak one day, it can move quite freely.

    Green Colored Hook On Roof

What is the purpose of this green colored hook on my roof ? It is hollow metal and protrudes into the loft about a foot and has cladding on it. Most of the houses in my area have one. It doesn't cause a leak but I can see some daylight when looking up at it from the loft. I have a roofer coming...

    Cementing Trowels Gone Rusty

    Question About Electric Paddle Mixer

After much arduous mixing by hand of sharp sand and cement in a bucket for re-pointing a large slabbed double driveway, and with quite a lot of further re-pointing still to do on paths/patio, I am considering purchasing one of these electric paddle mixers :-...

    Fixing Unstable Driveway Slab

I have a driveway made of granite slabs, and one of them is very unsteady, wobbling from side to side - I was wondering what kind of materials placed under it would be the best to stabilize it. I have quite a bit of spare 14mm gravel chips that I could use - or should I be using some kind of...

    Extra Gloss Paint

I am beginning to think it is the window cleaning 'squeegees' that are used by window cleaners that are damaging the paintwork on the beads. The rest of the paintwork seems to last much better.

    Extra Gloss Paint

These beads have previously been treated with wood hardener - I assumed it was OK to paint over that with an undercoat + gloss.

    Extra Gloss Paint

I am painting an exterior wooden frame window which in the past has had flaked paint right down to the wood. As I am now re-painting it I am wondering if there is anything wrong with putting an extra layer of gloss paint on the worst parts where the flaking occurred before, ie the window...

Cleaning Spilled Wood Hardener From Stone Sill

There is also a sanding stone which I think might be helpful :- https://www.paving.org/index.php/clean-stone-slabs-using-carborundum-sanding-stone/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=5&v=x2n3hFs3YfM

Cleaning Spilled Wood Hardener From Stone Sill

Heh - that's a good idea. I have found something that has helped though. After a few days once it had set in, I took an old putty knife, a fairly stiff one, that I use for scraping weeds out between paving stones, and scraped right across the stone with the edge with some force, and it has...

Cleaning Spilled Wood Hardener From Stone Sill

On preparing an old wooden window for painting I spilled some of the wood hardener onto the stone window sill, and it has caused unsightly dark stains - is there any way to remove this ? What would you recommend ? Thanks

What Type Of Sand Is Best For Cement Mix ?

On the bit I have done I just mixed the sharp sand and cement dry, and filled it into the gap - it then sets with moisture from the ground and rainfall. It feels pretty solid, and I have hit it with a hammer and chisel as a test, and it only dents and crumbles a bit and does not crack. If it...

What Type Of Sand Is Best For Cement Mix ?

Hi folks I have a fairly old but good condition driveway made of granite slabs, but unfortunately a lot of weeds come up between many of the slabs. In places the gaps are maybe 1cm wide or more. I am planning to clear out these gaps and fill them with a 50-50 mixture of sand and cement - however...

    Corsa 1.2 16V 2010 Sub Frame Rust

That's certainly been my experience. It has got worse. I did 7 HPI checks on Gumtree on Corsa's, all quite good cars, and 5 of them came up as insurance write-offs - that's why I went to a dealer. Its taking me much longer to find a car than in the past where I found one good private seller and...

    Corsa 1.2 16V 2010 Sub Frame Rust

Do you think a low mileage car is not necessarily a big advantage, and a 10,000 miles per year average mileage car, or above, may often be a better option if it had a good MOT record ?
