    Fitting outside lights

Thanks - Distance of 7-8 metres in each direction. Yes, ideally a three-lights-in-one fitting would be preferable provided the PIR/ sensor covered 180 degrees.

Trafic van - outside air temperature reading

The air temp. reading is incorrect - currently showing -6c when it's about +10c. Does anyone know whether it may be the sensor or the display itself? Would it be inexpensive / straightforward to fix? It's a Nissan Primastar 2.0DCI 115 LWb (same as Trafic apart form the badge) Thanks...

    Dashboard rattle / vibration

The top of the dashboard in my Nissan Primastar ( same as Vauxhall Vivaro / Renault Trafic) is slightly loose and therefore vibating/rattling. It's the part which goes from one side of van to the other, across the very top of the dashboard. Does anyone know how to fix this? Had the van...

    Rainwater on raised beds

I've covered some raised beds in black plastic for the winter. The plastic is weighed down along the edges but on one of the beds the soil level is a couple of inches lower than the sides of the bed so it has filled with rainwater. This isn't a particular problem but someone suggested it...

    Anchorage pegs

I'm using rebar pegs at the moment - smooth-sided ones. The builders' merchant bent the ends to hook the guy-ropes on to. Is is possible to spiral them ( similar to a corkscrew) ? Or would ribbed ones be more effective

    Anchorage pegs

Can anyone suggest an effective way of anchoring a rotary clothes dryer with a cover? It blows away when the wind gets underneath it. At present there is a guy-rope on each arm attached to a peg (a hook-headed smooth metal rod) which are pushed in to the lawn. When first affixed the pegs are...

Considering I'm in Ireland does anyone know of a reputable company to carry out an inspection? A recent Which? survey showed the main providers of such a service falling short.

    Toyota Hiace power output

The first five services were carried out by a main dealer in Yorkshire and the last two in 2010 by In'n'Out (don't know where). Just looking at it again, it's now been about 14kmiles since the last service.

    Torque wrench recommendation and size

Thanks for the replies. Could you explain how to measure the socket size - is it the width of the square socket on the rear of each socket?

    Torque wrench recommendation and size

Can anyone recommend a good torque wrench for occasional use? The most immediate job is to tighten the nuts on a towbar to 134 NM. Also, regarding the size, most specs state half-inch or three-eighths inch. Does this refer to the fitting width on the rear of each socket? If so should this be...

Connecting three gutters to a water butt

Yes indeed but there isn't room. I've looked at this but need it all to go in to one butt. From a fiscal perspective you're correct but I want to use the rainwater in my garden rather than treated water.

Connecting three gutters to a water butt

Thanks but no as pipes crossing the space between the log store and the shed would be an obstruction.

Connecting three gutters to a water butt

Hi all, Does anyone know how to connect three lengths of guttering to a water butt? Two of the lengths will be from an apex-roofed garden shed - the butt will be to the right of the back of the shed so it will be near one side of the shed but the width of the shed ( 9 feet ) away from the...
