Recommend a good quality ratchet crimping tool

Anyone used DAVICO crimpers? Just bought some from TLC but haven't used em yet. I'm after a good pair for crimping non-insulated copper lugs but haven't found a decent set yet. TT

    Tax Evasion

I'd give it back to your customer and ask them to pay you so much a month over a few separate tax years - Give free credit if you like. The wait shouldn't bother you since you have already said you don't really need the money.

Fatalities due to electrical home accidents in Great Britain

You have quoted from the Approved Document - which is for guidance only and which has no legal status. Where does it state that notification is a legal requirement in the STATUTORY INSTRUMENT?

Fatalities due to electrical home accidents in Great Britain

So just WHERE does the LAW say that your LABC MUST be notified? What part of the Statutory Instrument? Care to post a link?

    Light Fitting over Shower

No, not talking about BS7671 paperwork. And if you're with NAPIT It's £2.20+VAT each for ALL jobs, not just notifiable ones.

    Light Fitting over Shower

Have you factored in the scam fees over 52 weeks? Have you factored in the time for lost earnings during days wasted due to assessments/inpsections? Have you factored in fuel use and vehicle wear and tear driving to and from assessments/inspections? Have you factored in the time taken...

    Light Fitting over Shower

"...the work is notifiable to building control as its alteration work not like for like." Yeah, but nobody bothers with that do they. It means you have to pay another council 'stealth tax'. TT

    Range cooker connection

Ban or Breezer You thoughts please!

What is the length of the run? - I'd use HR flex insde the trunking. No reg against using flex as fixed-wiring. I'd also use a means of local isolation via an FCU rather than an unswitched flex outlet. TT

    New Garage Electrics

Nope! Sadly they can't afford me! :D :D :D :D :D BTW - You stitched up Mr Seaface-whatever-he-calls-himself very nicely! My congrats (Although I'd expect nothing less from you!) It's about time that the mass populace earnestly learnt the difference in status between the Building...

    New Garage Electrics

"OOI, what then is your opinion of professional electricians who conspire with their customers to overcome the system of LABC notification?" Surely not! I'm sincerely intrigued as to whom BAS is referring! Ferk em! TT

    shower woe

Check that you haven't cross L & N over on the new switch - Red (brown?) goes to L Black (blue?) goes to N Red to shower (brown?) goes to L-LOAD Black to shower (blue?) goes to N-LOAD. Seen this happen before - neon goes weird if lines are crossed over. TT

    lighting query

Yes you can buy adaptors but I need to be clear about this. Are you asking about BC-To-Bipin adaptors? If so, the answer is yes. Years ago you could 'Dim' flourescent lighting because of its very nature. Nowadays it may be possible but I have yet to come across this. TT

Things have developed! Removed C/W inlet valve and cleaned filter but still no joy. Checked C/H and DHW microswitches with multimeter - both ok. Checked for movement of actuating rods (driven by the diaphram) for C/H and DHW, both move full-stroke and are not seized. C/H pump working ok. Am...

the MK split load cu (screwfix!! £79-99)

Unless you go to the extra expense of metalclad CUs I think you'll find that all brands are flimsy when it comes to the actuall carcass. The MK deal on screwfix isn't bad if you can find a use for all of the supplied mcbs. A better deal is the one from Rexel-Senate. MK 16-way Split-load...

    baxi 105e no hot water

Hi, I have a similar fault. LED marked 60' flashes when I run the H/W tap and there's no H/W. Book suggests a low pressure or pump fault. Tried C/H from programmer and C/H fires up no probs. Call for H/W when C/H is running and burner shuts down. LED 60' begins to flash again. Turned H/W...
