Hi
Strange one I know but is it possible to buy adaptors to convert t8 flourescent tube holders to t5 and then still have the standard length t5 tubes just slot straight in. Also if I can do it I would like to wire them in to a controller which would turn up the dimmer over a period of about 30mins...does something like this exist?

Yes you can buy adaptors but I need to be clear about this.
Are you asking about BC-To-Bipin adaptors?

If so, the answer is yes.

Years ago you could 'Dim' flourescent lighting because of its very nature.

Nowadays it may be possible but I have yet to come across this.

I think you meant to say "Years ago you could not...."

Nowadays it may be possible but I have yet to come across this.
Yup - but you need special control gear - not cheap.
