Hi all,
Moved into a property earlier this year and noticed a really strong vibrating sound coming from the cylinder room on the top floor.
It happens for maybe 4-5 seconds in the morning when we're drawing hot water for the first time. Usually notice it when one of us has a shower in the...
Hi,
I'm hoping from some sage advice, from you lovely people.
I have a Valiant Ecotherm 832 Combi boiler that was put in about 4 years ago. I'd just moved in, and the place had an old oil boiler that sounded like a jet engine, and an uninsulated hot water tank that was taking up tons of room...
Hi
I wonder if anybody can enlighten me to what my problem may be.
I have recently drained the CH and filled it back up, bleeding all the radiators.
The system has an unvented cylinder with two zone valves. When the valves are fully open there is hardly any noise from the cylinder and the...
Good evening all, I’m a drainage engineer with a plumbing background. My property is an old 1930’s, has an indirect vented cyclinder, f+e in loft and also water tank storage in loft. Would like to replace the vented with an unvented. Same location as existing, really good mains pressure on 15mm...

I'm looking to upgrade my vented system to an unvented system, and as part of that I'm looking to upgrade the 15mm pipe from the stopcock to 22mm.
We've got 25mm in to the house and the stopcock is in the downstairs loo, it's in the boxing in of the soil stack. The pipe run to the airing...
Hi I have pressure of 1.5bar about 14L/min flow rate with 2 thermostatic showers and so was thinking Ill get a a combi that heats about 14L/min. Worst case is Ill get 2 showers 7L/min which is okayish.

Hello,
I’ve bought a Vitodens WB1B316 Compact Heat Only Boiler, part no. 7416307, for use on an sealed system, replacing a 17 years old Baxi Potterton Promax 24HE.
I'm trying to understand what do I need to get exactly for the Vitodens to work in a sealed system, as I'm supplying all the parts...
I'm about to start the process of replacing my vented hot water tank with an unvented cylinder.
Currently, I have a power shower installed (Aqualisa Aquastream). I've been told that I can't use that with an unvented cylinder.
Would I be able to keep using it for a while if I simply unplug the...
Hi. Over the past couple of months the hot water system in my house has started making an incredibly loud reverberation when a hot water tap is opened. I would liken it to the sound of a ruler being twanged on a desk. It is very loud and fades to silence over a period of about 3 or 4 seconds...
Hi all.
I've just signed up and found this forum useful, but having searched exhaustively, I could not find this info.
Q. Can I pump just hot water (single impeller pump) and not pump the cold water from the cold water storage tank? Or use two separate pumps?
I ask because most of the water...

Ok here goes…..I moved into a house in January which has got a lovely new bathroom and nice thermostatic shower. The setup is a traditional vented system with a header tank in the loft and hot water cylinder in a cupboard in a bedroom. There is a pump in this cupboard that powers the shower to...
I am considering having my vented hot water cylinder upgraded to an unvented cylinder. Therefore, I will also need to have our power shower replaced with a mixer shower.
However, I only wish to do this if the shower performance is going to be the same or better.
How do I ensure this will be...
Hi everyone
Currently undergoing a loft conversion and my plumber has recommended to get an unvented cylinder installed, I like the idea of it but forgot to ask the plumber will this work with a combi boiler? Is it a simple job or will the boiler need changing? I've got a Baxi Duo Tec 33kw...
Hi All,
I'm renovating a small 3 bedroom semi in Norwich. We're planning a large extension (2 storey side, loft and single storey rear) to essentially provide 4 double bedrooms along with complete renewal of the existing house.
The current central heating system comprises a gas combi boiler...
HI all,
I am currently in the process of having a loft conversion done, of which I am planning to upgrade/change the heating and hot water system as the house will be a 5bedroom with 3 toilets once complete.
I currently have a condensor boiler which is 24kw, which has the usual cold water and...

Cheers if anyone can help would be very grateful...
We have a unvented system that was installed about 18 months ago. Everything works fine except for the shower - it has always been weaker than I had wanted, and has got worse in the last year or so. The main problem is that the shower flow rate slows to a dribble over the course of 10 minutes...
Hi all
4 bed detached, two bathrooms and cloakroom, 16 rads, and 4 people including two young children.
Out hot water demands are growing by the day and if it wasn't already awful for just the two of us, our 10 year old Ravenheat combi boiler is proving entirely insufficient for our water...
