I have just replaced a ballcock valve. I reused the fibre washer on the connector and it doesn't seem to be leaking. Is it okay to reuse a fibre washer like this, or might a leak develop in the future. Should one always change them for a new one every time a connector is opened up?

There is no set rule to say they should always be replaced, you have dropped lucky with yours I think.

I always replace for what they cost and you might aswell whilst you have the fitting stripped.

If I`ve not got a fibre washer I wrap a strand of hemp + a bit of paste where the washer was - And defy any life threatening bacteria to grow

Fibre washers?, BW & Hemp?, how so very last century...

Nah, Hep2o tap-connector washers for me every time, so need to over tighten, takes up a lot of slack on rough ball valve threads etc.

I must go to one leak under a WC cistern a week, 70% are ball-valve connections leaking. Nice earners.
