Wall was built only a year ago and I have just noticed where the block wall connects to the pillar a crack has formed all the way down basically disconnecting itself from the pillar.

What options do I have to repair this?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Pictures from outside and inside of wall crack.

Please stand back and take wider pictures from both sides. Include trees and bushes.

How deep was the foundation? Was it all built at the same time?

How long is the wall?

It looks to me as if the wall and the pillar were built independently. Is that right?

Normal shrinkage of concrete blocks. Dense blocks are supposed to be built in maximum lengths of around 7m.

7ft wall
Pillar in middle of picture is where the crack is
Foundation is 400mm with rebar to the right of pillar and to left of pillar is the original wall reblocked from 1st or 2nd row on the original foundation, original wall was same height.

It's quite a long wall. I think it has just created its own expansion gap by cracking.

BTW I think mine has pillars at 3 metre intervals, I don't know what the rule is.

Agree with JohnD , should be an expansion joint , post would have been ideal position .
