I'm installing a consumer unit in a new location, about 4m from the existing meter/cu. The meter tails won't reach. I'm planning to fit a 100A DP isolator near the existing meter, and use 25mm 3core SWA to supply the new CU until the transport/meter people can be arranged to move the service head and meter.

Can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful 100A DP isolator? I'm loath to spend too much on it as it'll only be in use for a couple of months. The following seems ok, but how easy will it be to terminate 25mm SWA in there? http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/WYREC2S.html

Also, I was also considering picking up the 25mm 3core SWA off of ebay... There seem to be pre-used lengths reasonably cheap. On a scale of 1 (good) to 10 (bad), feel free to rate this idea.

If it's only temporary, why not just use a 5metre length of meter tail?

Your plan has some difficulties:
The RC2 is not suitable for SWA. It is made for meter tails.
The SWA will need to be properly terminated. You'll need something like a metal galvanised box at each end to fit the gland.

Then the resulting L&N conductors will only be single insulated as they transition from the adaptable box to the REC2.
How would you achieve double insulation?
