How do I know if I have a 1 or 2 pipe system?

The telltales are usually where the pipes go upstairs!
On a one pipe its usually a ( 15mm ) pipe at the front and another at theback.
If you can take up boards you see one pipe passing a radiator with both connections the just that one pipe.
They are luckily so rare on domestic that many plumbers have never encountered them. So its quite expected that if they do they will not recognise them!

Just to let you know. I emptied a bucket of water from each pipe and on the second pipe a large amount of air spluttered out.
It now works fine.
