my 240-110volt converters suddenly stopped working..everything seems in order with the wiring on the inside and its not the fuse thats blown..is it likely to be the:zing ear 700 10a switch??any advice would be useful and grateful...
Without any test kit we'd just be guessing. If you have a multimeter or at least a 2 pole voltage detector then you can go through the unit right from input to output and check for any faults. It could be a faulty switch (or perhaps it's actually a thermal breaker? Common on USA stuff), equally, the transformer could be broken.
thanks matthew...i'll just go ahead and and get a replacement switch and go from there...if it turns out not to be this ze-700-10a switch have u any idea on repair costs or is it not worth it?
How large a converter is it? If it's just a couple of hundred watt jobby then repair probably wont be economical. If it's in the kilowatt range then it might be worthwhile.
That said, if it's just a basic transformer and does nothing to adjust the frequency (i.e. 230v 50Hz in, 110v 50Hz out) then you can get a site transformer rated at 2kVA+ that for less than £100.
