Hi, I'm hoping someone might have an idea of what's wrong with my transformer.

I bought a second hand tool a few months ago which came with an old 110v transformer. It's always been a bit temperamental, I new there was probably a bit of loose wiring inside. Anyway, last week it just stopped working and the overload button had popped out and wouldn't reset even when unplugged. I took it apart and found the earth and neutral wires were both broken within the sheath so I cut out the broken wires and rewired it. The overload button is now depressed and I was certain I'd fixed it, but still nothing. As far as I can tell anyway. I've left my tools on site so can't plug them in to test, but it usually makes a buzzing sound, but it's doing nothing so my guess is that it's still not working. Does anyone have any other suggestions. I did also change the fuse in the plug. Thanks in advance
