Hi all just joined this site as a direct result while searching for info relating to this subject I too want to run a portable 12 volt tv from my campervan I have just purchased this and find it uses the same adapter but my question is about the 4 pin plug that goes in the tv it has got two + and 2- poles each pair carrying just over 5 volts, so without the circit diagram of the tv I dont understand why this is split like this any ideas folks, Colin

yes it has but the topic is I want to run it off my campervan battery via a regulated 12 volt supply so I am asking for the logistics of the 4 pin set up

If you click on my link (above) it tells you what voltages are delivered on which pins. It says 12v, not 5v, but I am not an expert on esoteric din plug connections for strange TVs.

If you read it closely it says 1&2 =+3&4= 12 volts but the pins enter seperate not combined my concearn is not knowing what configuration takes place inside the set obviously something is different or they would have had 12 volt on two pins not four, that is why I am asking from someone who knows not conjecture

As I said, I'm not an expert on this. All I did was find the info for the person who raised the topic in the first place.
That's as much help as I can be.

Maybe raising a topic of your own perhaps on a specialist TV forum would get a more informed response. What you are asking is rather outisde the brief of DIY Household Electrics!

It will have 2 pins of each voltage because of the current the TV is drawing will exceed (or at least be close to) the limit for one pin.

Stick a multimeter over the pins on the TV input, i'd imagine they're joined to the same track on the board inside.

I would also suggest getting a DC:DC convertor to stabilise the supply, as you might find the TV lacks any sort of power regulation, expecting to get clean power from its external supply.

Hi Aragorn 84, At last we are getting somewhere i had been thinking that somewhere the two sets of pins would be in paralell inside but did not think about the max current on each pin being the reason, I have allready mentioned the regulated 12 volt supply , now how can I split the supply from my car battery into two sets of 6 volt to connect to the new 4 pin din plug, Colin

Its a fluke one of the best you can get I`ll check again tomorrow with another meter and report back, but that is what I was saying from the start I am getting two sets of >5 volts

not sure, but i think sometimes you need a special multimeter to read voltage output
