Hi, i've just sanded my floors which were the original pine. I've applied the 1st coat of varnish which is Ronseal perfect finsh, diamond hard floor varnish in a medium oak colour. However this 1st coat is the exact colour that i wanted and i know that any further coats are likely to make it much darker. They recommend 2-3 coats altogether. Is there any product hat i can apply now instead that will keep this shade of colour yet provide the extra protection that the 2-3 coats would.

P.s I'm not after a high gloss finsh that i belive that the ronseal clear gloss varnish may give.

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Hi
Although I have not done it myself I would assume that you could now apply a clear varnish over the top and so preserve the colour you have.
The sheen is set by the final coat so use another 2 coats of the Matt or Silk Matt version to get your desired finish.
