ok I think I got it. The junction box goes before the switch for the original light and wired as per the diagram. 1 question though, The original wire is a 3+ so has a yellow wire. I take it that nothing from the 2+ gets connected to this in the junction box for my switch or new light? However the yellows are connected from the junction box and the original light?

Use your multimeter to establish the functions of each of the 3 cores.
please confirm
there is only 1 cable at the switch, a 3core + earth
