Afternoon,

Looking to perform simple swap of a couple of 2 gang 2 way switches, replacing old volex with Crabtree. One thing that I was not expecting was a difference in layout; existing switch is top row A-B1-B2, bottom row A1-A2-B, new is L3-L1-L2, L2-L1-L3).

I've made the assumption (and posting here before commencing work) that I simply increment the terminal number from old to new, thus the following:

Exiting Volex:
Gang1
A-Yellow
A1-Red
A2-Blue

Gang2
B-Yellow
B1-Red
B2-Blue

New Crabtree:
Gang1
L1-Yellow
L2-Red
L3-Blue

Gang2
L1-Yellow
L2-Red
L3-Blue

Correct?

Thanks in advance!

You are correct.

As you have deduced from the lettering, it is not top row and bottom row but two triangles - A and B so will be your new switch.

One of the triangles might be upside down in some switches, otherwise just swap the wires to the same terminals of the triangle.

If you're sure there's no chance that he might think each row is a gang....
