2 way vs 1 way switch

What would happen if I used a 2 way switch where a 1 way light switch should be used?

a 2-way switch can be used as a one-way.

many people just keep 2-ways in van stock to save the bother of carrying two sorts.

Use the COM and the L1 terminal, which is usually also marked "1 way" as well

I am not trying to set you up, but why do you think it would be dangerous?

Just use the C or common for one wire and L1 for the other.

If you used C and L2 it would work but with the switch in the opposite positions.

If you connected your wires to L1 and L2 it wouldn't work.

Neither scenario would be dangerous.
