2001 HONDA CIVIC - RATTLE FROM UNDERNEATH

Hi Wizards,

I have an eight year old Honda Civic 1600 which I love. (Wish I could buy a rand new one now.) Over the past couple of months I have heard a rattling noise from under the car when the engine is ticking over. If I increase the revs or when the car is being driven there is no noise of rattling.

I know this might be difficult to diagnose but it is not really suiting me to take the car to a garage until after Christmas although I obviously am concerned that it could lead to something more serious.

Anything obvious springing to mind?

Sounds like the cat heatshield resonating at idle revs, if you cant re-secure it you can just remove it.

Many thanks, Kingboy. If I leave it a few weeks is there any danger of it falling off or causing any other damage?
