2013 Elanrta Brake Problem.

Greetings from NE Pennsylvania.

Sometimes on applying the brakes at low speeds ,as in coming to a stop,
the brake pedal vibrates and a rough noise is heard.
This was rare but now more often.

There are no ODB error codes.
Switching the ABS off at the dash board has no effect.

Not because of this problem I have redone the front brakes and the right rear
brakes this July; that is replaced the rotors. pads, and calipers.

The left rear was done earlier and I just pulled the wheel; the rotor and pads look okay.

Any ideas what to look at for this problem.

Hi Harry, and welcome!

That's a difficult one, as you've tried much of what I was going to suggest anyway. Does the car have an electric or conventional mechanical handbrake? If it has a conventional mechanical handbrake, on a quiet bit of road, maybe try stopping the car with the handbrake and see if the noise is still there. That should tell you whether the noise is coming from the front or rear brakes.

Was it doing the same thing before AND after you replaced the pads, and calipers?

Wondering if this vehicle has a single piston caliper, or two or even four? Notoriously difficult to check that all pistons are operating together!
I'd also check for the disc back plates being in too close proximity to the discs, check that all of the discs are rust free and there's no bearing play.
I don't think any UK vehicles have switchable ABS but I can't swear to that.

Thank you for the reply. On removing the ABS fuse so far I have not felt or heard any problems with the brakes.
I am hoping that helps solving the problem.

I think this sounds like an ABS pump failure - but the noise you hear will be coming from the pump itself, not the wheels.
However, in UK the ABS lamp would be lit on the dash.
Does the pedal feel different somehow, when the brakes are applied?

There were no lights lit on the dash prior to removing the fuse.
Now there are the ESC(electronic stability control), ABS, and Brake lamps on.

Plus the always on low tire pressure lamp; we have a well lit dash!

The brakes seemed normal on our weekly trip to Aldi's grocery store;
Aldi seem to be popping up everywhere here.

Unfortunately the warning lamps are unlikely to extinguish themselves, you'll need to visit a garage or buy your own plug in scanner......mine is a Foxwell 510 for example. I can't say if it's any good for the U.S. market though.
I'll stick my neck out here and say that even if the ABS system is disabled, the brakes will still work normally but the vehicle may be deemed unsafe in the eyes of the law.
