Am having a structural engineer check on this issue next week but just wanted to see if anyone here had any insight into this matter.

It's a detached property in which the roof is being completely replaced. A survey showed the roof needed extra support and roof thrust had occurred causing minor cracking on the front walls on the first floor.

Our builder removed quite a few roof supports at the front of the property to fit in new beams at this point the front walls on the first floor cracked. There are two tapered cracks which starts around 2 feet from the floor and at the top the crack is around 25mm wide. There are no cracks present on the ground floor.

Below is a photo along with a plan of the property with a red line marking where the cracks are positioned.

Any info on how major of a job this will be to fix would be very useful.

So you had a survey saying that roof spread was an issue, and then your builder removes what support the roof had, thereby putting additional horizontal loads onto the wall thereby making the problem a whole lot worse

Maybe it would have been an idea to put the beams in before removing the existing support to the roof??

It was 2 very large beams going in so some of the roof supports had to come out. It would have been a good idea to add extra support to the roof where it wouldn't have got in the way of the new beams going in.

Yes, exactly, it would have been possible to add in temporary supports to take the load.

If the beams are installed correctly and the horizontal loads taken off the wall, the cracks may close back up a bit.
It might then be possible to tie together with Helibars. But it's possible that it's too severe...
