Sounds like you need an RGI with excellent heating electrics knowledge. There could be live stuff there that shouldn't be,
28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

system has been working OK for years now since been here. just wondered how!!!
It has been wrongly wired up and has been kind of working although inefficiently.
The obvious thing is to fit the right bits and wire it up properly.
We used to fit controls to an old system for £240 but that does not properly reflect the time taken so we now assess each one individually.
