Had a dodgy sparky do some work this added to a problem with tennant has left me with 3 lighting problems that would really appreciate some advice on what would happen, ie bulbs burnt out or unit burnt out if below happened.

Bedroom light not work..
All in one ceiling fan and light, there was a short?! and then whole unit didnt work, replaced the Remote control unit and now the fan works but not the light? Replcaced bulb etc, would have thought that if the Fan is working then light should be ok as it goes through same control unit

Lounge Hanging Light.
Suspended light with halogen bulbs, was incorrectly fitted to dimmer switch, dimmer switch eventually went and was replaced with flick switch. The Ceiling lights now work but the suspended light doesnt

Hall light
Is one of the string lights where you screw lights along, 2 of 5 bulbs incorrectly replaced with 50w instead of 20W now none work.

Thanks again.

Its very dark in here!!

You need a new spark! Try www.competentperson.co.uk then at least he/she will be qualified. I'm assuming you do not know how to use a multimeter/voltage indicator or you would have DIY'd it before.

Who can say? usually the light will have a transformer that may have gone, or a wiring fault.

Again, you need a spark. Probably a wiring fault

Putting the 50W lamp in will hav blown the protective fuse on the output of the transformer. this is usually on the side of the transformer itself, sometimes its inside, sometimes there's no fuse and the transformer just fails. Have a look at the fuse, if you can find it but note that it will be a special fuse type (you will be able to get a replacement fro somehwere like Maplins). Dont try and put the wrong type in.
