30 votes to 18

Who would like to tell notch the number of people who voted to make Theresa head of the conservatives, thus giving her the job of our PM?

199.

Which is 31,010 fewer than voted to make Jeremy head of the Labour party.

silly notch pretending that "people" means "MPs"

Is he that ignorant?

Or is he just being deceitful again.

Yes but my point is still valid: the majority of MPs didnt want him as leader. And many still dont.
Ok. That means most MPs are out of touch with the members, but you are not a Labour supporter so why do you care?

I quite like it that the Tories are a shambles.

If the party splits, perhaps the 'accepted voting method of the party' might be reviewed amongst those that would be left.....
So, are you thinking that only the ones who disagree with it as it is will be left.

Labour MPs are out of touch with the rapidly expanded labour membership which mostly represents the hard left.

What counts is whether the hard left represent the majority of Labour voting public.

So far Corbyns success has kept the Labour moderates quiet, but as momentum activists apply more pressure, so the moderates will start fighting back. If they see no way forward, the party will split.

Chuka Ummuna has just called the Labour party institutionally racist........ moderates fighting back

Oh dear, JohnD thinks its clever comparing 199 MPs with 30,000 labour members as though the 2 are the same.

Tory supporters are petrified of losing power to a Corbyn government, hence their constant barrage of nonsense.

notch never stops.

He is frightened by Corbyn's popularity, his overwhelming success in the leadership election, and the increased number of votes gained under his leadership in the general election.

Meanwhile, in Notchland, rebellion and splits abound:

"Up to 80 Tory MPs are prepared to vote against Theresa May's Chequers plan, a former Brexit minister has warned."
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45468544
"He warned of a "catastrophic split" if his party was not able to unite around a different, more flexible arrangement."

"Former leader Iain Duncan Smith said the PM's plan was "unacceptable" to the majority of Tory MPs and was "essentially dead"."

"The latest interventions follow a week of criticism of the Chequers deal from MPs, notably former foreign secretary Boris Johnson."

I think I'm right in saying that his comment relates only to the anti-semitism[sic] claims.

Of course, this hinges on his and your definition of anti-semitism, doesn't it?

Using the accepted nonsense then it could mean anti-Israeli policies or upsetting some people who happen to be Jewish.

Ha ha ha.

In Notchland, ie the real world: despite the Tory party being in total crisis with the weakest leader since who knows when, they are still ahead in the polls.

Why?

The electorate dont want a hard left Corbyn government.

With a strong leader and an inclusive party that acted as a 'broad church', Labour would be miles ahead in the polls, which is where they should be.

It seems Labour MPs risk being deselected if they attend an anti semitism demonstration.

Rosie Duffield for example.
Rosie Duffield row: Corbyn appeal for unity sparks yet more Labour infighting
The Labour leader sought to calm nerves over deselection with a conciliatory message at the PLP but tensions were soon exposed.

It was a demonstration against anti-semitism.

Ok. I will agree that that does not seem right.
Why is it a matter for censure?

Whatever anyone's beliefs - good or bad - It would seem self-defeating to attack someone for attending a demonstration against something that would not be openly promoted.

The Labour party is left of centre, as is the Liberal party.

I think Blairite is exactly what you are talking about.

Blair said he shifted "New Labour" to the right because he thought it was the only way to get elected.

He was somewhat stunned to see the tremendous popular support for the current Labour leader.
