thanks for all the help with overheating problem ,not resolved yet as valves were shot(big clouds of blue smoke when pulling off).further help needed , can I use 3900 efi heads on a 3500 block. got a real good deal on perfect set of heads,polished and ported waisted stems ,cat seals etc.

i think they will as long as you use the correct gaskets and the aux equipment mounting holes at the front of the heads match up,you may seek further advice here http://www.v-8.org.uk/forum/index.php

gone for a 3.5 gasket to seal the liners.would this be the right choice
not sure on the correct one but you need to make sure all the passages line up correctly,also a composite gasket will lower the compression ratio which you dont really want

3.9 heads with 3.5 gasket with 3.5 block work a dream.the over heating that cost me my orig heads was down to a sticky thermo.checked it in a pan of hot water,ok.with new heads on started to boil up so took out thermo and all runs a dream now.So if you think -ill check thermo- dump it and buy a new one.would have saved me buckets of time and money.
