i am looking to remove the 45amp socket from my kitchen, we have gas, what do i need to run 2/3 13aamp double sockets from this 45amp cable??

a double socket. also, change the MSB/fure down to 16/15A (if 1 socket) or 32/30A if 2 seperate sockets

thanks Andrew, what do i need to do this, is this your average DIYer job..sorry am not familiar with terms like MSB/fure

it can easily be done by a DIYer but if you dont know what a fuse/MCB is then you best leave it alone for your safety

just removed the fuse from the fuse box, actually it says 30amps...does that make any difference?

yes. 30A is used to protect ring/radial circuits. you could easily change the cooker switch for a socket (or 2) with the 30A fuse. altho i would stick with 1, and make it so it can be replaced by a cooker switch if needed in future

Andy, i have just found a mcb pic, it is just like a switch, would i just conect the old cooker wire to this, then could i run a cable of about 3 meters, with 2 double plugs sockets on?

cheers

at the CU end, yes. where 3M? in the kitchen?

also, are you aware of Part P? if not, search the forum and understand it BEFORE you do any work in the kitchen

yes the 3 meters is in the kitchen, so the 30 amp fuse i pulled out of the fuse box, could i put a lower rated piece of fuse wire on it say 15 amp fuse wire, or does it just not work like that? thanks for your help Andy

since the cable is 6mm, you can use 30A fuse.

as i said before, read up on part P before doing the work

andy, so if i change the fuse in my fuse box to a mcb with a trip switch i can go ahead,so you think 30amp trip? cheers

As long as the radial circuit is left as 6.0mm to all the sockets you plan to install you will be fine to leave the 30A rewireable fuse in.

But as mentioned above a little thing called Part "P" restricts on what you can do in the kitchen....
