need to move 45amp cooker switch/socket but need to extend 6mm twin and earth cable. what is the best method of joining cable? thanks.

I am not an electrician but I would suggest you put a blank cover over the old switch box with very heavy duty choc connectors inside to connect your onward cable.

Do not plaster over any kind of cable joint.

Best method is to use the correct sized insulated through crimps and cover the joint over with heatshrink sleeving. The joint can then be covered over. The cable must run a safe zones (vert or horiz from the switch or other accessory).

Oh you must notify the local authority and pay their fee if you are going to DIY, as this is a kitchen.
