hi could any 1 tell me if i should be worried about this van that i got a couple of months back. it the 90 bhp engine, on start up first thing it gives considerable white smoke out. i dare not rev the thing as it would fill the street with white thick smoke, the smell is like burnt desiel or somthing. if left on idle its not to bad but does puff out still a little. this only happens the first time i start it in the morning and lasts only 20 seconds or less. the van runs fine all day long and does not skip a beat or even a puff of smoke out.
i know to expect a little smoke but i class this as a lot.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Not sure on that engine, but hopefully you have heater plugs fitted and
they need replacing. The after heat stage is not working and the engine
takes a while to warm up, hence the smoke.

Are you loosing coolant (water) or engine oil?

The coolant is fine and the oil is the correct colour, be it a little black. The oil was low when checked so topped up and will monitor.

Thanks for words of wisdom pal.

hello all, what should the mpg on a 53 plate 90bhp common rail connect be? im only geting 283 miles to a rimmed tank wich is about 12 gallon so 23.5 mpg.

the van still does the smoke and its more blue than white. its getting looked at in a bout 4 weeksfor the smoke but is the mph anywhere near? thats driving like miss daisy to  it does have maybe 200kg on the back in tools and gear. any1 got 1 and can give me ideas of true mpg figures

how much do you think it would cost to replace all injectors to this van?
do they all get replaced or just ones that are at fault?

dp services???? that ain helpfull you prat
i have had the van checkedd and codes read by a diesel specialist ffs! ford main dealer told me to go there!!!
this advice was given to me by the ford transit forum!
the diesel specialist said all is well and it was a 'good van'
cost £60
still getting 23 to the gallon which i can stretch to 25 when coasting as much as possible!
told him about the smoke on first start up, even showed him a f-ing video of the van doing it!
he said that looks like injectors and the price will be about £750?

is this why my van is poor on fuel?
i aint paying alot of money to just get rid of the smoke. i aint fussed about the smoke it the 23 to gallon that is getting on my nips!!
I think he is trying to have me over that they all need replacing!

clearly every one i ask with same van gets 45ish to the gallon so there is something wrong!

it is your industry pal (dp),not mine
so i ask the question to all on here.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH MY VAN?
THE VAN IS MINT AND RUNS MINT!
