Hi.

Could someone tell me what the maximum current capability would be for 6mm cable installed in the best installation method.

Just wondering if a 40 or 45A MCB could be fitted.

For a replacement Hob.

Thanks

Note to self (wylex,crabtree,volex) don't do 45A

6mm² clipped to surface OR buried in masonry/plaster - 47A.

32A MCB will be adequate for any domestic cooker (hob plus oven) that is available.

So, clipped to surface or buried in masonry/plaster - 4mm² cable will be adequate, but everyone still uses 6mm² because that's what they do and they hanker for the days of rewireable fuses when it was required.

Thanks. Just rechecked the instructions and it says 32A MCB. (must have been a different one which requested 45A)

Interesting to know the answer to the question though, thank you
