I know the connector you linked to is rated at 41A and should have been tested to carry that current so I guess I should have more faith but I'm struggling!
NIC assessors have said to me that they are happy for me to sign EICs saying that my work complies with BS 7671 even though it doesn't

No - but the point I was making was that if you did then apparently NICEIC would be happy for you to sign an EIC...I didn't say I have, or would use them in a 'maintenance free' capacity.
