I'm building some fitted wardrobes out of MDF.

Would you recommend a 6mm or 12mm back panel for each unit? I'd prefer 6mm to save on space and cost but wondering if that would cause any issues. It's going up against a stud wall if that makes any difference.

First time builder so thanks for your help!

Thanks

go for 5.5mm ply much stronger lighter and less prone to moisture damage

Thanks, my local yard only has 4mm ply - would this be strong enough?

Also what is it like to paint? Would it match the MDF in terms of general aesthetic if it is all white or will the ply have more noticeable grains?

ask what they have in exterior ply that what i use for all my furniture
5.5mm[1/4"] is far far more common than 4mm in exterior ply
