Had a mate ask me today where he can get replacement 7ft tubes. I’d never heard of 7ft ones but he’s adamant his are 7ft.

I know you used to be able to get 8ft T12 tubes, but I thought the longest was 6ft now?

Any ideas?

I will stand corrected, but I have been working on electrics since 1983 and have never heard of a 7 foot tube in the UK.

100W 8 foot tubes are still available, but for a premium. And the brighter 125W, too.

I had 2 x 8 foot twins in my garage, and was facing a bill of £84 to replace the lamps; I was down to the last one.
Instead, I fitted two of these, with a third to go in once alterations have taken place:

They are great!

Neither have I.

Google has heard of 2100mm (6' 10 3/4") T12 95w ones though, in an unusual single pin format called FA8 I've never seen before. Presumably that means they can't have heaters and can only be used with specific electronic ballasts.. https://www.easy-lightbulbs.com/lig...gle-pin-fluorescent-tub/2-pin/f84t12-cwho-sy/ Appears to be a UK supplier too.:confused:

E2A.. OK 7ft tubes are apparently quite normal in America, in 2 cap fittings neither of which is anything like our standard 2 pin... https://www.lightbulbs.com/category/straight-t12-fluorescent-tubes/?filter_length=84
Possibly the OP has an imported fitting with an auto sensing 120/240v electronic ballast??

Jolly good, empip.

Any chance you might explain the usefulness of that post given that nobody has misspelt fluorescent in this thread?
