Has anyone replaced 8foot fluorescents tubes for LED equivalent? What was the result? Thanks

Sorry only 5 foot. But I would expect a similar result. The LED replacement was half the lumen output to the original fluorescent. The lumen per watt fluorescent with HF ballast is 95 with LED it is 100. The tube life comparing with a HF ballast is about the same.

However the start up time for LED is far faster than fluorescent and the colour balance is also better. It is said the life is more predictable so where a warehouse using fluorescent will likely need some tubes replacing within the year even if the 50% mark is 10 years with LED because the whole tube does not fail with one hit maintenance costs to replace tubes can be a lot lower for LED.

But in the main it depends where, in an office likely the reduction in lumen output will mean they are rejected, but in a corridor likely you don't required the lumen output so they can save a lot specially where PIR controlled.

So if the 8 foot tube was fitted because you need that amount of light then you would need to swap to double fittings to get same output so LED is a non starter, if however the 8 foot was fitted because you need the spread of light then likely LED is the way to go.
