I saw that exact 'method' of terminating into a junction box in my snags and solutions book ...i thought it was a joke..
Prior to buying my my previous house it was agreed the owner would have it rewired, and that was how his sparky terminated the CPC.
Also the cable for upstairs lights came out of the cupboard under the stairs, through the stair riser and ran up the the middle of the wall on top of the wallpaper, his comments 'well you'll be redecorating anyway'.
I threw the 16th Edition at the owner and said it had to meet them before I would release over £4k held back until it was rewired.
I was lucky as he agreed in writing he would have it rewired before purchase.
He came back as I was removing the 'Contiplas' wardrobe from the bedroom and asked if he could have his 'TIMBER' back, oh and the toothbrush holders and mugs from the bathroom.

Hi Marco1976, I am paying for it and depending on results will go back to spark who did the bodge ,sorry job. But the spark has not given me any paperwork, so will try to get that first. It also looks like he has wired the thermostat wrongly, every time I try to alter stat the fuse blows. One time it blew all fuses from CU to inside boiler
