Doing some mind numbing PAT testing today - Found a few faults which always breaks up the time.

Poorly attached plugtop, with exposed single insulation. The single insulation being damaged by the back of the freezer - When I showed them the plug, they mentioned when they slam the door to the freezer, the RCD trips.

Inside the same plug.

Same kitchen, three commerical microwaves stacked on top of each other in the sweets area. All three plugged into the same 4 way extension lead (surge protected!?!). I guess it's all they had to hand. Surprisingly, no reports of blown fuses, although I am guessing the sweet prep area is not overly busy.

Same kitchen again, a new addition of an electric hot plate for doing the breakfast fried eggs. Obviously not installed by anyone other than a kitchen chappy...

The kitchen was full of extension leads, most to simply lengthen leads, there where several with burnt out sockets on them.

And finally, this just annoyed me. When I install trunking, I will fit some large enough for additions(usually), and will do a neat job! I hate to see this.

I think the people in the kitchen are safer than the ones sat at tables in the restaurant....

I take it you must have upset the boss to get such a horrible job as PAT testing! Just PAT tested and registered 100+ items and my head is splitting.
