A good move from Trump. We could do with this over here.

Having read the leaflet, I suppose the problem they are trying to address is quoted below. I believe there is still a lot of hatred towards these groups, especially trans people, at the moment. So I suppose the idea is to make accessing care less fearful for those people.

So how does flying a flag, and generating yet another job/post, address that? Clue is, absolutely it doesn't.

There is so much hatred against trans people in particular. I'm guessing that the idea of flying a flag would be to make them feel welcome. I think that's probably over the top. But having staff who want to engage wearing the special badge seems like a cheap and harmless thing to do.

I think the cost of all the EDI officers in the NHS is relatively small at £40m a year, out of a budget of almost £200bn. I have just been reading that the cost of bullying and discrimination within the NHS is almost £3bn a year. If the EDI officers can save even a small fraction of that, they will pay for themselves.

And many have been terribly bullied.
True:

A (white) friend of mine works in an office of 5 women. Three of them are Nigerian and refuse to speak English when talking among themselves. One of them is the manager. When she wants my friend or the other (white) female worker to do something, she snaps her finger at them. When they complain to her about the finger snapping and the talking in their own language, she 'sucks her teeth' at them. This is a large organisation. They both went above her and raised a complaint and you'd never guess what they were told. They were told 'it's part of their culture and you have to accept it'. One of them has handed her notice in, the other one is looking for a transfer to another department.

Can you imagine if it was the other way around?

Yeah, sack all the hospital shineys. Get the Docs to type up their own notes and referrals. Loadsa dosh saved right there. No ****er's getting treated, but hey, loadsa savings. Make em roster the cleaners too- they are after all the ones dirtying the place. Sack the porters and have the nurses push the patients around- maybe treat them on the move?
Or abolish the NHS and make everyone pay for treatment.
It would help solve the housing crisis, as once they get the bill for treatment, For Sale signs will be popping up all over the country.
Biggest cause of personal bankruptcy in America is medical bills.

not one word from Trump on how he is going to deal with the health care crisis that exists in the USA where healthcare is widely expensive

but he did make a big fuss about biological sex and gender..........as though thats the major issue

But what has been happening is that if you do not wear the badge you are pressured to do so - its got to the stage where if you do not wear one then you must be a phobe (pick one). You said so yourself --- having staff who want to engage. That is the sort of soft coercion that is written into the emails that go out to staff.

I must admit I hadn't thought of that.
