A pleasent Sunday morning

I'm on standby this weekend, we spent the morning changing a faulty 100kVA transformer using one of our "Big Boy's toys!

Assuming that was the supply for the caravan site and their leccy was on did you have a mobile gen set for their supply while you did the tranny change.

We had one when they changed our tranny,By the way what is the max output on your gen sets.

The transformer actually supplies a housing estate, who were off supply while we did the job (power was off for about 90mins.)

Within the company we have a mix of 100kVA, 200kVA and 500kVA generator sets, but can hire in up to 1500kVA.

Thanks for the info westie and 90 mins to change a transformer as it takes 3-4 hours to repair a broken cable up here.

The time was just the outage time, we cheated slightly as we had all men and equipment on site before switching the power off.

Why was it being replaced? was it just routine maintenance or was their something wrong with it?

A routine patrol the previous Friday had found traces of oil at on the ground and non visible in the sight glass., we found a corrosion hole half way down the tank.
The above classed it as an emergency (other stuff over the weekend kept us busy so Sunday was the soonest we could do it), routine jobs we have to pre-warn customers of any outages.
