It all depends on the listing. The proposed work may have nothing to do with the reason for the listing.

But TBH, how someone signs a lease for a listed building without knowing that and the implications, let alone not knowing about other unauthorised works is beyond me. But best not dwell on the past.

Many Gazebos are pretty substantial. Probably your only option really.

Or move house, as it's rented. Avoid renting anything listed in future.
