A05VV-F cable

I'm making up a short (3-metre) 13A extension lead for indoor use - my longer 10m one tends to get in the way a lot!

As well as the necessary plug and heavy-duty trailing socket, I've got a redundant length of 1.25mm A05VV-F that would be just right for the job and save me having to buy a new length of H05VV-F instead. As far as I can see, there would be little or no difference in using the A rather than H spec flex - am I right?

The A is a tougher/better spec. than the H.

You're right there. Been guilty of that myself in the past. T&E anyone? Needs must and all that, when you're on site and people are screaming for power up!

My understanding is that A means the cable was made to a recognised national standard rather than a harmonised standard. I don't think it tells you *which* national standard though.
