Accenta 8 sounding after power cut.

Hi,
just a quick question to get the missus of my back...
we have just moved house & the property has a accenta 8 alarm installed.
i have got all the manuals & codes required to set the system up.
question is i need to turn of the mains power to change a light switch, but the alarm goes off straight away. is there any way i can disable the alarm so i can turn off the mains?
