Hi Folks

I remember reading somewhere that adding a name to your home i.e. calling it something rather than the number and street name, can add value to your home when it comes to selling.

Is that true? If so, how much value would it add?

Thanks

Many councils now refuse to register house names where the house already has a number and a street.

Of course you can put a nameplate on your house, but it won't be part of the postal address.

One Xmas I did a stint as a casual delivery driver. Trying to deliver parcels addressed to the likes of 'The Cottage XXX Road' or 'Sunnydale XXX Street' was a pain when they could have been any one of a multitude of properties. I regularly had to return them to depot and had no sympathy for the owners when they complained of late delivery.

i would suggest adding a name just to sell it could backfire

"ohhh thats a nice name whats the story behind it"
eeehhhhh no story

that could have them wondering what else isnt real:rolleyes:

Don't believe everything you read in the dailymail.... I read that also, £40 cost can add £130k value to the house or something it said by giving your house a name.

Boils my **** when I get an address with just a name, struggle to find it, then discover they have a number!!!!
